Dear Sir/Madam
I write in support of mothers and fathers denied contact between them
and their children, in foster or adopted care.
The date today is 16th July. If your department does not change its
policy to allow regular contact (where security can by practically
provided) between children adopted or in foster care and their birth
parents. I will take my own life on the 16th August. You will have
blood on YOUR hands!
I am not a natural parent, nor do intend to have a family myself.
However, I have seen the immense pyschological and psychiatric damage
done to adults and children due to a policy that is more compatible
with Nazism or Apartheid than a western democracy. I believe it is the
ABSOLUTE right to have contact between oneself and one's own blood
relatives. This is to me the most fundamental human right....
This is a case I am willing to DIE for. Life without liberty is worse
than liberty without life.

If it was me, I'd walk the Cornish coast with a large rucksack and tent. I'd
catch fish and just admire the sheer beauty of the place, knowing nothing
else mattered. I'd wake at 4.30am each morning, greedy for the day, knowing
it's likely to be one of my last. I'd linger over the sunsets with a glass
of mellow, smooth red, reflecting on the physical and metaphorical "sunset",
and become melancholy over the latter.
Then I'd go back to dreary Essex on the 16th August, check to see if Essex
Social Services had given in to my blackmail and then, BANG!! - goodnight

Due to the pressures of "dog eat dog" capitalism, many suffering from
psychiatric disorders have little chance of finding work, and can lack
the organisational ability for self employment. While those suffering
from ADHD/Aspergers can be both academically intelligent and loving/
caring, they can't cope with the pressure of "office politics".
The benefit system penalises those in part time or low paid jobs too,
as it can cost more to work than get the dole. I suffer from bipolar
and ADHD, and the medication for one condition makes the other worse.
As for the death threat, I look at it in the same way as Gandhi's fast
to prevent war between Pakistan and India.
Mental health services are onto my case, so I'll be off to rehab
within the next few days. But please publicise and spread my cause.
PS. Forced adoption and preventing contact between adopted children
and their birth families is nothing to do with child welfare as often
claimed. A small child can cope with having multiple mummies and
daddies remarkably well. An 18-year old, with exams, careers and
relationships on their mind is more emotionally frail than a small
child with no responsibility. The real reason is to break up family
ties within poor families, so the aristocracy can maintain their
supremacy by means of divide and rule.
