OF THE 56 PEOPLE THAT SIGNED THE DECLARATION,
24 LOST EVERYTHING, DON'T HAVE THE EXACT NUMBER, BUT SOME OF THEM LOST THEIR
LIVES, IF
THEY WOULDN'T HAVE WON THE WAR, THEY WOULD
HAVE BEEN , HANGED, DROWN, AND QUARTERED, THE
PUNISHMENT FOR TRAITORS TO THE BRITISH CROWN, AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, A VERY
PAINFUL DEATH, IT WAS INSTITUTED BY EDWARD THE FIRST AS A DETERRENCE TO
REGICIDE AND TREASON, BY THE WAY, THAT KIND OF PUNISHMENT, WAS ABOLISHED
IN THE 60'S, ANYWAY, I HAVE NOTHING, BUT ADMIRATION, FOR THE FOUNDING
FATHERS, AND NOTHING BUT DISDAIN FOR THE GENERATIONS THAT
PROCEED THEM, ALL THEY ARE GOING TO DO IS TO
SHOOT FIREWORKS AND DRINK BEER, I'LL BET THAT 90% OF THEM HAVEN'T READ THE
DOCUMENT.

Good thing liberals beat the entrenched conservative
crown, eh?

Uhm...
Most of the founding fathers would not be considered Liberals by any
means...

Of course they were

Any political ideology has "conservative"---"liberal"
positions within their ideology

The political lines of the mid-to late 18th century
were marked by writings of various europeans writers,
used to create a "unique" position on society and human
interaction---not to mention the disgust of not being
ccorded the same "rights" that all citizens of the
Crown enjoyed.

By any definition---the founders were engaged in
incorporation all kinds of things inimical to the
established order----that being what a conservative
would "conserve"

Lincoln was "progressive" for the times----taking on
entrenched reactionary conservativism in Antebellum
Southern States by dealing with issues of slavery in
holding the Nation together

The fight against the "established order" throughout
all the early 20th century manifested itself in dealing
with the LACK of regulation by government--allowing
wealth, power and business to pretty much do as they
pleased----and fought tenaciously against
"change"---which is what conservatism best exemplifies.

The "Counter-cultural revolution" is a long war against
entrenched racists, and the continuation of the
"cultural wars" against reactionary and extremist
religious reich still continues.

Of course they were

Any political ideology has "conservative"---"liberal"

The founding fathers were all RICH WHITE MEN.
Basically, Conservatives that were successful UNDER CONSERVATIVE RULE.

Quote:

holding the Nation together

Lincoln himself said he'd never end slavery, and only did it 2 years INTO
the civil war for more support from the North, as they saw the war as a long
drawn out never ending terror....
Basically, he politicized slavery to gain support to keep warring...

And since this was over 70- years after the founding fathers founded this
nation, it is irrelevant
