Why should even one American soldier die so that we can please the
Europeans who - other than the Brits - won't even fight in Iraq? If
it saves American soldier's lives, any weapon should be used - just as
surely as some new improved first-aid technique for those American
soldiers wounded on the battlefield.

Samurai swords to be banned
By Emma Henry and agencies
Last Updated: 1:55am GMT 07/03/2007
The sale of imitation samurai swords could be banned by the end of the
year, the Home Office announced today.
Importing or hiring the weapons could also be made illegal following a
string of samurai sword attacks in recent years.
Breaching the ban, which is targeted at cheap imitation samurai swords
rather than the more expensive genuine collectors' items made by
licensed swordsmiths in Japan, would result in up to six months in
jail and a £5,000 fine.
advertisementCollectors and martial arts enthusiasts owning or using
genuine samurai swords would be exepmt from the ban
According to Home Office estimates, there have been at least 80
serious crimes involving the swords in England and Wales over the last
four years.
One MP recently warned that they were being used by criminal gangs as
the preferred weapon of choice after guns.
Last month, amphetamine addict Hugh Penrose was jailed for at least 19
years for hacking a 21-year-old woman with a samurai sword and then
deliberately running her over.
In October, Bradley Moran was jailed for 17 years for murdering
another man with a samurai sword following an argument in a nightclub.
It is currently legal to buy samurai swords - which are freely
available at martial arts shops and on the internet - provided they
are not brandished in a public place.
The Home Office now wants to ban their sale as part of a wider
crackdown on knives and bladed weapons.
Carrying a samurai sword in a public place already attracts a maximum
jail sentence of four years.
Vernon Coaker, the Home Office minister, said today: "Samurai sword
crime is low in volume but high in profile and I recognise it can have
a devastating impact.
"Banning the sale, import and hire will take more dangerous weapons
out of circulation, making our streets safer.
"We recognise it is the cheap, easily-available samurai swords which
are being used in crime and not the genuine, more expensive samurai
swords which are of interest to collectors and martial arts
enthusiasts."
"It is already illegal to have a samurai sword in a public place but I
want to restrict the number of dangerous weapons in circulation to
enhance community safety."
The plans are outlined in a consultation paper, Banning Offensive
Weapons, published by the Home Office today.
At present there are 17 weapons, including knuckle-dusters and batons,
on the Offensive Weapons Order.
The exemptions would be for groups such as the To-ken Society of Great
Britain and the British Kendo Association.
Last year, Tory MP James Brokenshire (Hornchurch) said cheap samurai
swords were as easy to buy "as purchasing a Lotto ticket".

Iran Converts Uranium in Defiance of UN
Tue Sep 21,11:15 AM ET Add Top Stories - Reuters to My Yahoo!
The announcement was likely to provoke an angry reaction from
Washington
and increase suspicion in Israel, which plans to buy 500 "bunker
buster"
bombs from the United States that could take out Iran's underground
atomic facilities.
Gholamreza Aghazadeh, the head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization,
told reporters Iran had begun converting 37 tonnes of raw
"yellowcake"
uranium to process it for use in nuclear centrifuges -- the machines
that enrich uranium.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the U.N.'s nuclear
watchdog, adopted a resolution on Saturday calling on Iran to suspend
all activities related to uranium enrichment. The United States,
Russia
and the European Union (news - web sites) reinforced the message on
Monday by urging Tehran to comply.
"Some of the amount of the 37 tonnes has been used. The tests have
been
successful but these tests have to be continued using the rest of the
material," said Aghazadeh, one of Iran's vice presidents, who is
attending a general conference of the Vienna-based IAEA.
One nuclear expert has said that once converted from yellowcake into
uranium hexafluoride, the feed material for enrichment centrifuges,
Iran
would eventually be able to enrich enough uranium for up to five
nuclear
weapons.
The IAEA is aware of Iran's plan to convert the uranium for the
enrichment process and said it would monitor the tests.
"IAEA (chief) Mohamed ElBaradei continues to call on Iran, as did the
board, to suspend such a test as part of their confidence building
measures," spokeswoman Melissa Fleming said.
Iranian President Mohammad Khatami (news - web sites) said Iran was
determined to press ahead with its atomic program even if it brought
an
end to U.N. checks of the Islamic Republic's nuclear sites.
"We are determined to obtain peaceful atomic technology even if it
causes the stop of international supervision," he said.
BROKEN PROMISES
They (Iran) have a continuous record of making and then breaking
promises, both to the board as well as to others," a State Department
official said in New York, where Secretary of State Colin Powell (news
-
web sites) is attending the U.N. General Assembly.
"This is the pattern of a country that has not made the strategic
decision to give up its nuclear weapons program."
Iran had promised Britain, France and Germany last October it would
freeze all activities related to uranium enrichment.
But Tehran angered the EU's "big three" by announcing earlier this
year
that the production of feed material for centrifuges would not be
included in the freeze.
The resolution said the IAEA board would consider whether "further
steps" would be necessary if Iran failed to implement the suspension
--
which diplomats said would mean a referral to the U.N. Security
Council
and possibly economic sanctions.
The United States and some other nations believe Tehran intends to
use
fissile material for weapons. Iran denies that and says its nuclear
program is solely for peaceful purposes.
Israel has made clear it will never permit Iran, which does not
recognize the right of the Jewish state to exist, to become a nuclear
power.
Diplomats and analysts say Israel would prefer diplomacy to war and a
coalition if military action were needed against Iran, but is ready
to
act alone if needed.
In June, the Pentagon (news - web sites) said it was considering the
sale to Israel of 500 BLU-109 bombs, designed to destroy reinforced
targets, as part of a munitions package meant "to contribute
significantly to U.S. strategic and tactical objectives."
Israeli security sources said the sale would go through and one told
Reuters: "This is not the sort of ordnance needed for the Palestinian
front. Bunker busters could serve Israel against Iran, or possibly
Syria."

All that story says is that Iran is continuing to enrich uranium.
C'mon, man, where does it detail their number of warheads and delivery
systems? It doesn't, because they don't have them. They don't even have a
"device" assembled yet. So what if they cobbled together few crude fission
bombs? The second they used one, a single Trident submarine would rain down
enough warheads on Ayatollahland to make Iran cease to exist for the rest of
the 21st Century. You know it and they know it --- |

There are many charlatans who claim they have 'divine power' to
forecast future, heal illnesses, or bring you good luck and so on.
These individuals are mostly Jews who practice Kabbalah (http://
www.answers.com/topic/kabbalah) and black magic (http://
www.answers.com/topic/black-magic).
It sounds like a blind man claiming to be able to heal your blindness.
The question is this, if Jews have such magical powers, then why they
cannot find out where the two captured Israeli solders by Hezbollah
are?!
http://www.answers.com/topic/2006-israel-lebanon-conflict
Nevertheless, there are many naive people who believe in theses
rubbish things.
The Christian Church for many years used to fight these kinds of
people, not because they were charlatans, but because the Pope wants
the church to be the only source for 'divine power', and to practice
occultism such as exorcism.
As long as man does not believe in the logic of science and
rationality, these charlatans shall fool every naive individual.
As long as one is a donkey, then everyone shall ride him.

Now, now, language please ;-)
Although I may concur with "club the brains out of...". You must
understand that not every country has "the right the bear arms" as part
of their constitution.
Living in a former British colony I can state that if we were to rise up
against the government, not only would the military be called in to
"calm" everything down (there are contingencies in place for this), the
instigators, and probably a good many followers, would be tried and
found guilty of treason. Treason is technically a death sentence in
Australia.
We have one state where swords require an exemption or a manufacturers
license, but it's better than not being allowed to have them at all.
